Honours
The Discipline of History encourages its able and interested students to consider enrolling for an honours degree. Why Study History Honours? Apart from the intrinsic
interest of studying History at a deeper level, an Honours degree in
History can open many doors. It demonstrates that a student has
developed high level skills of written communication, critical
thinking, analysis, argument and synthesis. It also indicates that a
student has developed a sufficiently deep knowledge of the past to
understand that it is essential to look to the past to understand the
present.
Honours graduates in History have entered a variety of careers.
These include ministerial policy officers, teachers, librarians,
museum curators, public servants, archivists, as well as academics.
History Honours graduates from UWA include the Hon Kim Beazley, ex
Leader of the Opposition; Senator Louise Pratt; Mat Trinca, Deputy
Director National Museum of Australia; Dr Felicity Morel-Ednie-Brown,
Director Northbridge Study Project.
